Functional Analysis and Quantum Mechanics

Department of Mathematics and Department of Physics
University of Turku

The Departments of Mathematics and Physics collaborate in investigating the mathematical and conceptual foundations of quantum mechanics. The mathematical framework mainly consists in Hilbert space operator theory and its relationship with the integration theory of operator measures. The physical motivation comes from operational quantum physics, quantum information theory, and from the contemporary view of quantum observables as normalized positive, possibly generalized, operator measures.
