Background:

The Rolf Nevanlinna Institute, a Finnish mathematical research institute formally under the auspices of the University of Helsinki, has decided to devote the year 2001 to the general theme of Functional Analysis. In practice this means that various research groups in Finland will arrange small colloquia on specialized topics within functional analysis and its applications. The Departments of Mathematics and Physics at the University of Turku are planning to join their efforts in organizing a workshop with the title "Functional Analysis and Quantum Mechanics".
