The chair of Theoretical Physics at the University of Turku was founded in 1960. Since then the research in the Laboratory of Theoretical Physics has been focused on the topics of fundamental physical interest. Currently the main research fields include foundations of quantum mechanics, nonlinear phenomena, particle theory and theoretical solid state physics. Active international collaboration is an essential part of the research work.
